Profilin'

This photo is of my best friend Liz for an album on people. It was originally digital, but I changed the color to black and white because I like the contrast and I like film much more. She's sooooo beautiful.

Frog Crossing, Part Two

This is a black and white David Hockney, or a collage of photos that piece together a single scene. This collage was much more difficult than my previous David Hockneys because when you print in black and white, you have to make sure the gray scale with each photograph matches. I love capturing this scene here... so many cute statues.

Drinking from the Well

This photo was taken for a digital roll on motion. I took the photograph of my friend's well while she pumped the water for me. It was dark and the picture came out having sort of a too-bright-flash look, so I took some liberties with the editing. I desaturated the image, changed the hue, and tried to highlight the falling water.

Nature in Motion

This photo was taken for a film roll I did on motion. I thought that the behavior of the water was really dynamic. the way the splatters onto the bricks, flows over top of the leaves, and lightly sprays throughout the entire frame. I've become a big fan of water,

Selective Color

This picture was taken at school for my first roll in photography II. It was a partner project: a scavenger hunt. I uploaded it to photoshop and used the selective color tool to color in Liz's Shirt's emblem and a flower on the bush behind her.

Childhood Memories

This photograph is from a roll on childhood memories. I chose to photograph these Beanie Babies because they were a big part of my childhood. These lovable little stuffed animals came out around the time that I was a small child, and my mom collected almost every single animal. I used to love playing with them and my mom liked them because they were decorative and could be re-sold later. Alas, they are not yet worth anything more than what she paid for them years ago.

Fountain of Youth

This photo was taken on the downtown mall for an assignment on portals. I was very against the idea of just taking a bunch of pictures of doors, so I took a more metaphorical approach. Throughout this roll, I took pictures of many different things: a flower representing the portal to life for bees, an ATM, the mouth of a vending machine, and this water fountain. This was one of my favorites from the role because I love the motion of the water and how it is represented in photography.

Reflection

This is a mirror I found in my grandma's bathroom. I took this for a roll on vintage things, and I'm not sure if this is vintage, but it sure does look like it. For this roll on vintage things, I was able to sepia tone my prints, making them look very old and actually vintage. I like this photo because of the detailing around the stem of the mirror and the visual effect of the angle of the mirror.

Tree Hugger

This photo was from my very first photography assignment. I love it because of the textures of the roots and the grass and the lighting that accentuates those textures.

Frog Crossing

This photo was taken for a roll on leading lines. I thought it was super cute because of the line of frogs leading up to the "frog crossing" sign. My grandma is in love with frogs, hence why they are here in my backyard.

Still Life

This photo is from a tray of perfumes that belongs to my grandma. I took this for a roll on still life. Still lives are described as being depictions of objects that cannot move on their own (ex. a rock), and I thought this was a great example. I also love the playful things you could do with the focus in this picture!

Vintage

This photo was taken for a roll on vintage things.  I couldn't find very many things around my house that we're actually vintage, so I decided I would do my best to try to make certain things look more vintage than they really were. I hope I have succeeded!

Parker!

This is a photo of my friend Parker. It was taken for an assignment about hands and feet. Parker is super awesome.

Solarized

This is a picture of a tub of cookies and cream ice cream at Splendora's. Originally, this photo was regularly colored. The assignment was high contrast, and because of this I was able to develop my photos in Solarol. Solarol is a special chemical that makes a photo appear, like this one, sort of metallic and negative at the same time. This creates the effect you see in the photo above; this was originally a vanilla ice cream with dark, chocolatey cookie crumbs on top and throughout, but the Solarol gives it a whole different look.
